The Commissioner of Railway Safety has carried out a safety inspection on the 30.9-km long Chitradurga-Chkjajur portion of the Chikjajur-Bellary railway electrification project. The Chikjajur-Bellary railway electrification project would electrify the 184 km long Chikjajur-Bellary railway line in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It entails an investment of Rs 1.65 billion. It was approved in the 2017-18 Railway Budget.
