In a notable development, the Hirakhand Express will operate with modern Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches with effect from September 10, 2021. This is being done to provide better comfort and jerk-free journey to the passengers. The train operates from Bhubaneswar to Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. The LHB coaches (which will replace the conventional coaches) are anti-telescopic, i.e. they do not flip in case of a collision, safer, lighter, more comfortable and jerk-free. The phase-wise replacement of the conventional coaches with LHB is being done from the safety point of view.
